“Litter is a threat to public health and our regional economy. It harms wildlife, decreases property values, hurts business, and is a financial burden for local governments,” said Lori Arguelles, Executive Director of the Alice Ferguson Foundation. “Through our Trash Initiative events such as the Cleanup and Litter Enforcement Month, we seek to create greater awareness of the of the litter issue, which will lead to behavior change throughout the region.”

Volunteers should wear clothing they don't mind getty dirty and bring water along as well. If you have your own work gloves or trash pickers, we ask that you please bring those to the event. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Volunteers can expect moderate-to-difficult work that requires lifting bags, bending over and walking on rocky/slippery terrain.
