Opportunity Description: 
Park Host - Park Host are needed on a season-to-season basis. Typical summer season runs from the 1st of March to the 1st of October. Winter season runs from the 1st of October to the 1 of March. Park Host positions are available at 5 campgrounds and 3 day-use areas. Host duties vary depending on the season. The main function of a Park Host is to provide services of hospitality to park guests. In addition, Hosts are essential in allowing us to keep some parks open by performing or assisting with certain operational duties. (Updated 08/25/2010)

Opportunity Description: 
Host needed for the Davis Lake Recreation Area located within the North section of the State of Mississippi 21 miles South of Tupelo, MS. The park is Located in Houston, MS just off the Natchez Trace Parkway at mile post 243. Also located just off the Natchez Trace on the way to the entrance are the Owl Creek Indian Mounds. The park has a camping area as well as boating and skiing available. The 200-acre lake is the centerpiece of the Davis Lake Recreation area. The recreational area offers boating, Owl Creek Indian Mounds, swimming, and fishing along with shaded camping spots. The area is slightly remote, peaceful, and beautiful. PRIMARY DUTIES: include providing information to the public, assisting visitors with registering and paying fees, opening and closing main gate, light maintenance, monitor park conditions and reporting maintenance problems to the district. Work 5 days per week, including all holidays and weekends. One month minimum commitment required. Full Hookups, shady site. Town of Houston 4 miles and Town of Tupelo, MS 21 miles. The metro area of Tupelo, MS is a 30 minute drive to the North it also offers a variety of shopping and Tupelo Automobile Museum and is the birth place of Elvis Presley. As well as the City of Corinth, MS offer a variety of shopping and several museums such as: the Coca-Cola museum, the Crossroads museum, Corinth Civil War interpretive museum and the Black History Museum. Other volunteer positions may be available.

Opportunity Description: 
Host needed for the Choctaw Lake Recreation Area located within the North Central section of the State of Mississippi 35 miles south of Starkville, MS. The park has a 3.5 mile Handicap/Disability Accessible (ADA) walking/hiking trail that goes around the entire lake and camping area. Choctaw Lake Recreation is also home to the Noxubee Hill Bike Trail. This is a beginner to advances biking/hiking trail that runs thru the Tombigbee National Forest in Mississippi. Starkville, MS is also the home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The 100-acre lake is the centerpiece of the Choctaw Lake Recreation area. The recreational area offers hiking/biking, day use, swimming, and fishing along with shaded camping spots. The area is slightly remote, peaceful, and beautiful. The Metro Jackson, MS is a 2 hr drive to the south and offers a variety of shopping and has the Jackson Zoo and Agricultural Museum. The metro area of Tupelo, MS is a 1hr and 20 drive to the North it also offers a variety of shopping and Tupelo Automobile Museum and is the birth place of Elvis Presley. Other volunteer positions may be available.
