Opportunity Description: CAMPGROUND HOST: Positions are located at Indian Creek Campground, Alpine County, California. Volunteers work 5-6 months within this timeframe. As a Campground Host, you will typically be expected to greet campers; give directions, answer questions, and hand out pamphlets if available; help campers feel at home; perform minor maintenance and inspect the campground; clean and/or stock restrooms; keep some records; and occasionally fill out forms. A Host must work well with people, be personable and neat in appearance. BLM volunteer uniform provided. You may be required to be on-site five days per week, especially on weekends and heavy use holidays. A Host must generally be physically able to perform some raking, shoveling and sweeping. The most important job as a Campground Host is to provide an enjoyable camping experience for the public. The Host is the first and sometimes the only contact with campground users. Opportunity Description: Annual maintenance is needed on recreational trails for the Roseburg Oregon BLM. In some cases, overgrown trails need to be re-established, primarily using hand tools. Projects may involve brush cutting, bridge deck cleaning, water barring for erosion control, and other light maintenance. Opportunity Description: In 2013, Roseburg BLM will hold the 11th annual Cow Creek Backcountry Byway Cleanup September 6/7. Join us for litter pickup in a severely impacted area of our district. On September 28, 2013 Roseburg BLM will host our annual National Public Lands Day event, a work party and barbecue along the Sawmill Trail. Join us to whack invasive species and then eat tasty bbq.

Opportunity Description: BLM-Roseburg Oregon seeks campground hosts for 2013 winter and the 2014 camping season. Our small campgrounds are located in old-growth forest along the beautiful North Umpqua River, Rock Creek, or Umpqua River. The Oregon Coast is less than two hours away; hiking and angling opportunities abound. We offer full hook ups in a covered site, monthly stipend, local phone, golf cart, tools, and training. Host duties include greeting visitors, restroom and campsite cleaning, and litter pickup in campground and day use areas. No money handling, computer work or taking reservations. 2014 season is mid-April through late September. Satellite TV and cell service available (but not paid by BLM) in most campgrounds. Opportunity Description: The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking volunteers to assist the Washington Office (WO) with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) processing. The BLM currently has a backlog of requests from the public for information held by the Bureau. This situation provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to assist in serving the public, provide support for BLM operations, and gain knowledge, skills, and ability in FOIA processing. Tasks: Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to information requests; and assembling and reviewing proposed FOIA release packages. Work Environment: Typical professional office environment (indoors) with moderate noise levels. Requires work at a workstation (sitting) and use of a desktop computer. Limited physical demands, e.g., lifting small paper boxes (less than 10 lbs). Business casual attire (jeans are acceptable). Qualifications: Camp hosts must have the ability to work independently, be personable and neat in appearance, and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. Host should be moderately active and capable of walking the equivalent of several blocks on uneven terrain. Hosts must become knowledgeable about Conservation Area regulations and information commonly needed by visitors.Work is primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions typical of southern Nevada. Hosts must posess a valid state driver's license, willing to submit to background investigation, and be willing to take required training.
This is a volunteer position that includes a meal reimbursement of $34 per person per day and requires a minimum time commitment of two to four days per week from August 28, 2013 to June 2, 2014. We will consider those interested in the fall period only ( August- January). Duties include overseeing the daily use of the campground, assisting visitors, fee collections, cleaning and minor maintenance. Selected hosts must pass a background check. Hosts are provided their own RV camp space which has waste dump, water, and propane gas, and solar electricity with diesel backup. Individuals or couples may apply. A valid driver’s license is also essential, ability to drive a truck/ UTV/trailer preferred. Hosts must pass a Federal background check. Pets are OK but must be kept inside, leashed or caged. Time Commitment: A minimum stay of 3 months and 32 hours per week. Preference will be given to applicants who wish to volunteer until the end of the season. An average of 4 days per week is generally required. Days off may be flexible and extended when arranged in advance. Weekends and Holidays are included in the schedule. Benefits: Live in a campground of a beautiful National Conservation Area, meet lots of great people from around the world; electricity, propane, water, sewage, and garbage removal will be provided. The Las Vegas entertainment community is a short distance from the campground including casinos, eating, movies, and other amenities. Hosts will be provided with volunteer uniforms and a park radio with charger, misc. supplies. Meal reimbursement of $34/person/day for the days worked will be provided. You will need to supply your own living unit. A UTV or golf cart is available for use in the campground. Volunteer Hosts who receive a favorable evaluation may be eligible for nine month camp host position starting the following August/September.

The host site is in the campground. The lake is 280 acre and 2 ½ long /150 feet maximum depth. The lake has good fishing /boating and hiking trails are available. Loon Lake has a staff training each year. Here you will gain valuable recreation experience, mingle with some interesting visitors, work with people of similar interests and have a great opportunity to, engage in developing recreation interests. Additional duties include but are not limited to installation of signs; performing day-to -day maintenance such some garbage collection, litter patrol, we have a contract for the restroom cleaning but you may need to stock restrooms, and landscape maintenance; and operation of common power and non- power equipment relating to park operations and maintenance. There may be opportunity to help with children’s program, nature walks and evening interpretive programs. We have videos, speakers, slide presentations.
