Opportunity Description:

Living History

Period Re-enactors relive the year 1901 by participating in period interpretation both in costume and narrative matters. All participants are obligated by the rules, regulations and period-dress code of the maritime Living History committee.

It is requested that should you not be able to make the allotted day/ time as a member of the Living History team, to please call the following number (415) 561-7160 with a 24-hour advanced notice to report your absence so other arrangements can be made for your replacement if necessary.

Time Commitment: The Living History players meet at 9:00 AM at Hyde Street Pier usually on the second Saturday of each month unless otherwise stipulated. The first hour is primarily for the morning meeting among the players.

October's performance is on the 3rd Saturday due to the city's aerial Fleet Week.

January is for making and mending their period costumes.

February is the month when the park hosts their annual Living History training session and allowing the active members to arrange their new program schedule for the rest of the year.

Vehicle Operation: If you are asked to operate a government vehicle, yours or another privately owned vehicle during your volunteer service time, it is mandatory that you submit evidence of your driver’s license to the shop’s immediate supervisor or the Volunteer Office prior to operating said vehicle. It is also mandatory that the license you hold is valid and legal by the state in which it was issued and that you operate only vehicles which you are certified for. While you are in the operation of a government vehicle, your personal vehicle, or a vehicle that belongs to another person, ALL individuals are forbidden to use a hand held cell phone or to do text messaging (Except for Extreme Emergencies).
