Opportunity Description: 

Assist Heavy Equipment Engineer with regular General Maintenance duties. General property maintenance to include custodial upkeep of refuge buildings, restrooms, and grounds. Cutting/removal/mowing of vegetation and maintenance of associated sprinkler system. Construction/maintenance of various fences. Repair/replacement/installation of directional, informational and interpretive signs. If qualified, perform preventative maintenance checks on automotive and heavy equipment, parts and wiring inspection and replacement, complete routine maintenance. Tasks may also involve metal work, cutting and welding. Special projects, as assigned, including but not limited to stream restoration, re-vegetation projects, maintain/clean irrigation ditches and building up road base. May perform a variety of other duties. CDL is desirable, but not required.

Greet visitors and provide helpful and accurate information and materials. Speak with visitor groups at entry kiosk and on the trails, explaining the purpose of the refuge, answering questions, and identifying wildlife. Provide visitor information using good communications/public relations techniques. Record requests to book tours. Assist with educational programs and volunteer events. Provide interpretation or interpretive programs in the absence of the Visitor Services Specialist. May perform a variety of other duties.

Refuge Headquarters, visitor entry kiosk and RV pads are located at Corn Creek Station. Corn Creek Station is off US95 at the end of about a 4 mile gravel road.

32 / 24 hrs. per week expected.
