Opportunity Description:

The Midwest Archeology team is partnering with Notre Dame this year to do excavations at Late Woodland sites in the Lakeshore. These sites are poorly understood and were inhabited about 1,400 years ago during the Late Woodland prehistoric period. You will be asked to do a variety of activities associated with archaeological investigations at the sites, including assisting with excavations, screening or flotation processing soils, recording data (notes, maps, forms, logs), explaining field activities to site visitors, and/or backfilling. Archaeology field work is an outdoor activity that requires physical labor. Sites may be located several hundred yards from the nearest road or trail and will require a short hike to reach them. If you are interested contact Professor Mark R. Schurr, Professor of Anthropology. College of Arts and Letters, University of Notre Dame at Mark.R.Schurr.1@nd.edu..
