Opportunity Description: As a Visitor Services Assistant, you have the choice of working at the Wright Cycle Company Complex (which includes the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center and the Wright Cycle Company building) or the Huffman Prairie Interpretive Center. Interpretation Duties: -help connect visitors with meanings of resource -greet visitors -provide information/orientation -operate radios and cell phones -may complete Eastern National bookstore transactions -maintain appearance of exhibits with regular cleaning/maintenance -find answers to complex questions, research, and/or refer visitors to correct source -record visitation statistics -observe and report unsafe conditions, resource damage, problems, etc. to appropriate staff member -Must keep abreast of current resource issues and maintain knowledge of park and its resources. Must wear National Park Service uniform properly. Most work will be performed indoors in an interpretive center or in a historic structure, with some short distance roving on the grounds between our buildings. Volunteers may be exposed to extremes in temperatures due to excessive heat or cold.
