Opportunity Description: 

Be part of the Green Team and help promote sustainable practices at Rocky Mountain National Park! We are currently seeking hard-working, energetic people to be part of our recycling crew.

Applicants must reside within local commuting area, as there is no park housing or RV sites available within the park.

Work is done on weekends only, Saturday and Sunday. Recyling crews consist of two people each, start time and shift is flexible.

Duties include:

Driving government pick-up truck on set route to various park locations, including campgrounds and visitor centers.

Removing bags of recycling of commingled bottles, cans and plastic from receptables and place into back of truck, using lift on back of truck.

Empty recycling bags into large recycling container in facilities area near headquarters.

May operate propane recycling machine in the recycling of propane bottles.

Lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending, and standing will be required.

Work is done mainly outdoors and requires some interaction with the public. This is a required uniform position, a uniform will be provided by the park Volunteer Office. Work supplies will be provided including work gloves.

Work is performed in crews of two people each Saturdays and Sundays only from approximately late May through the end of September. Start time is flexible (6 a.m. - 9 a.m.), but work will require 7-8 hour shift per day.

Volunteer with the Division of Facilities Management at Rocky Mountain National Park!

Note: this volunteer position does not come with housing or camping on site at Rocky Mountain. Volunteers must live within the commuting area of Estes Park, CO in order to be considered for this position.

Opportunity Description: 

Be a part of the team at Rocky Mountain National Park!

NOTE: This volunteer position is available only for those within the commuting distance of Estes Park, Colorado (there is no volunteer housing or camping for this position).

Volunteers will be stationed at the Bear Lake Ranger Station and Trail Head

Duties Include:

    Needed volunteers to meet visitors at the parking lot for the Cow Creek trailhead and help with the efficient use of that parking area. Volunteers would provide information on the trails in that area and the research facility. When the parking lot becomes full volunteers would alert dispatch so the "parking lot is full sign" at the end of the road is activated. The volunteers would then give alternate hiking routes to visitors.

Time Commitment:

Start Date: May 1, End Date: July 17

Saturdays and Sundays of 4-6 hour shifts are needed (8am-12pm or 2pm). Access to the main building for breaks is provided.

Opportunity Description: 

NOTE: This volunteer position is available only for those within the commuting distance of Estes Park, Colorado (there is no volunteer housing or camping for this position).

Rocky is seeking individuals and couples to serve as volunteer mentors during the summer of 2013! Mentors will assist NPS staff or work as independent field leaders on various volunteer projects. Projects will vary, but many include: exotic plant control, greenhouse operations, or revegetation projects under the supervision of the VIP Coordinator for Restoration. 8 to 40 hours of training required depending on level of responsibility assigned. Mentors will help to supervise other volunteers while completing vegetation work safely, productively, and at a high level of quality. Prior plant experience a plus, but less experienced volunteers willing and eager to learn are welcome. Mentors must be willing and able to work well with diverse groups of all ages. Prefer commitment of at least 1 day a week of work from May to September, but may be flexible. Must be able to pass a mandatory federal background investigation.

32 hour per week commitments may include benefit of tent site or RV pad.
