Description: As part of our ongoing mission to save the San Diego River and its surrounding habitat, volunteers are needed to help remove trash and debris from the riverbed in the Mission Valley Preserve near the YMCA at 5505 Friars Rd. 92110 The San Diego River is a very important waterway from both an historic and ecological standpoint, home to many rare and endangered plants and animals. Help us to restore our river and nature preserve to provide a clean and healthy habitat for the native plants and wildlife that call the river home. No experience necessary, all tools and supplies provided. Community service hours can be verified for those that need them. Participants are asked to wear sturdy clothing that can get a little dirty and also wear closed shoes. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Light rain does not cancel the event. Groups and people 14 and up are welcomed to help. Volunteers can park in the parking lot of the SDPD Western Division at 5215 Gaines St. 92110. We will meet across the street from the police department at the western end of the YMCA parking lot at 5505 Friars Rd. 92110. Description: The San Diego River Park Foundation’s Clean and Green Team seeks volunteers to help us remove trash and debris in beautiful El Monte Valley County Park near Lakeside at 15805 El Monte Rd. Lakeside, CA 92040. Nestled among Oaks at the foot of El Cap Mountain, this park is very close to one our most important sources of drinking water and has fallen victim to illegal dumping of trash and debris. If you can’t stand trash near a reservoir in an otherwise beautiful natural setting, we invite you to join us and make a difference for the community and the environment. Make sure to dress for working outdoors including closed shoes (no sandals please!) a hat and sunscreen are also highly recommended, we will have all tools and supplies. Description: Calling East County volunteers! The San Diego River Park Foundation’s Clean and Green Team and the Friends of Santee’s River Park are teaming up to remove trash and debris from the river habitat in Santee at Cottonwood Avenue and Chubb Lane near Town Center Park. Please help us to provide a clean and trash free river and community in Santee. All tools and supplies will be provided; community service hours can be verified. Feel free to invite any friends or family interested in spending a few hours helping the environment, Light rain does not cancel. Be sure to dress in clothes that can get a little dirty, closed shoes required. Hat and sunscreen recommended.
