The Thomas Jefferson Memorial stands on the South side of the Tidal Basin. This Memorial to our 3rd president stands as a symbol of liberty in direct sight of the White House. Inscriptions on the walls of the memorial preserve forever his inspiring words that helped mold and shape our country and its ideals.
Jefferson Memorial volunteers spend time in the chamber of the Memorial, interacting with visitors. They also assist Park Rangers with giving talks, answering questions, and interpreting the symbolic elements of the memorial. The Jefferson Memorial plays an important part in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, during which special volunteer opportunities exist.
The National Mall and Memorial Parks mission is to manage, preserve, and maintain the monuments, memorials, and historic sites in the heart of Washington, D.C., and to provide opportunities for all Americans and park visitors to understand and be inspired by their significance. You can help advance this mission by volunteering in the park. Volunteers interact with visitors and assist Park Rangers in answering questions, giving talks, and leading tours of the monuments and memorials.
