We’re looking for volunteers to lead monthly bird walks / interpretive programs at the Refuge. Audience may be incidental visitors and scheduled groups. Our volunteer will help visitors learn about the Refuge resources, the general wildlife present and other wildlife viewing opportunities. The applicant must be able to demonstrate public speaking and interpretation skills. A background or interest in conservation, natural history, ecology or biology is helpful. Knowledge of and ability to identify local birds is key. Special interests in birding, tracking, teaching, or storytelling is preferred. Minimum time commitment is 2 - 3 hours at the refuge per month - usually on a Saturday. A 6 hour availability is preferred. Monthly scheduling is flexible. Orientation provided and some interpretive skill training is available.
