Currently seeking equestrian volunteer to assist in updating signage, horse trail maintenance, campsite maintenance with some minimal construction ability at West Tower. A campground located on the West side of the Osceola National Forest approximately 10 minutes from Lake City, Florida. The campground is remote and accessible directly from FS 233 off of Highway 441 in Lake City. Campsite includes unpaved site with electric, water and sewer hookup.
Four interconnected loops traverse more than 50 miles of trails, with each loop offering unique challenges. Each trail originates at West Tower where there is a camping area with horse stalls, drinking water and a flush toilet.
The Osceola National Forest encompasses nearly 250,000 acres of original Florida. The Osceola National Forest is located between Lake City and Jacksonville, Fl. The forests woodlands and swamps provide many opportunities for a wide range of visitor experiences such as camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, interpretive, hunting, wildlife viewing and many more.
The Osceola NF is located about 45 minutes from Jacksonville with population of 1 million, 40 minutes to Gainesville and the University of Florida, 20 minutes to Lake City with full amenities and with the Nature Coast Corridor including the Suwanee River Valley. Plenty of state parks, rivers and springs, ocean beach access, and cultural amenities.
