2011 CORPORATION Close the Loop, LLC
Established in 2000, Close the Loop, LLC, prides itself as being an environmentally & socially focused company offering innovative recycled products: 100% recycled plastic split rail fencing, glass mulch, rubber landscape timbers and more. Close the Loop encourages people to view their waste as a valuable resource. By making products from recycled raw materials, the waste stream is reduced, saving energy, water, landfill space, and potential air pollution during product manufacturing, and is good for our environment and the economy by creating much needed manufacturing jobs.

For the past 3 years, Close the Loop has organized Give & Take Days at Chestnuthill Township Park. During Give & Take Day community residents are encouraged to donate no longer needed household items, and in return they can also select from other donated items for things they might be in need of. This concept instills the idea of reusing items instead of simply throwing them away. Any items that were not claimed during the event day are then donated to local charities. Nearly 9,000 pounds have been saved from going to waste from Give & Take Days.

The Close the Loop works in partnership with Chestnuthill Township Park, Ross Township and the West End Park & Open Space Commission to coordinate and publicize the event. Local volunteers from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) track and weigh items as they are brought to the event to calculate how much was saved from going to a landfill.

During the event day community residents are also educated about new products made from waste materials and Close the Loop products; such as plastic milk jug fencing, glass mulch, rubber mulch, landscape timbers and more are highlighted. These products support local manufactures, and currently 160 small businesses in Pennsylvania are making new products out of waste materials.
