Allatoona Lake, located approximately 40 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia has a camping area dedicated exclusively to volunteers. The Project is currently looking for a Volunteer or Volunteer couple in excellent physical shape to perform a wide variety of outdoor duties and responsibilities. Volunteer duties can include but not limited to mowing and weeding; trimming limbs; picking up outdoor debris; assisting with recycling program; building and placing fish attractors; pressure washing areas and equipment; trail maintenance; bluebird box installation and monitoring; management of natural resources and much more. Volunteers will be trained and expected to use equipment such as tractors, gators, blowers, chain saws, pole saws, mowers, trimmers; pressure washers, and other small equipment.
Village volunteers also share a meeting room with a kitchen, lounge and laundry room. The Volunteer Village is located within two miles of the Project Office and within 5 miles of amenities including banks, post office, restaurants, and a Super Wal-Mart. Volunteers must be 21 years or older; be required to work 20 hours per week, per site; be physically and mentally capable of performing volunteer tasks; pass a background check; and pass an online defensive driving course to operate government vehicles. No persons are permitted to occupy a site other than the volunteer team. (Listed 11/08/2018)
