We offer unpaid academic internships at Thomas Edison National Historical Park. We will work with the student and their advisor to meet curriculum requirements for the internship. Interns get a wide range of experiences by working with both the curatorial and interpretation/education divisions. This means that you may work with museum collections behind the scenes, as well as provide visitor services, such as giving tours. Interpretation and education staff works closely with the public by providing informational assistance. They share the many stories of Thomas Edison, his family, and activity at both the Laboratory Complex and his home, Glenmont. You may assist curatorial staff at Glenmont and/or the Laboratory Complex with collections activities such as museum housekeeping, inventorying, photographing collections, cataloging objects, and creating temporary exhibits. Interns attend a multi-day orientation for new staff, and have the opportunity to attend additional training, field trips, and tours. If this doesn't quite meet your needs, we will try to work with the candidate to develop a program that will meet your academic needs.
