Diamond Lake Ranger District is accepting applications to fill one camp host position at Poole Creek Campground. Nestled in the High Cascades along the shore of Lemolo Lake, this campground has 60 dry camp sites, a boat ramp, a swimming beach, vault toilets, and potable water. This campground has a combination of first-come first-served sites and reservation sites. The Lemolo Lake Resort, north of Poole Creek, is a full-service resort offering boat rentals, lodging, meals, and limited grocery and camping supplies.
The Poole Creek host site has full electric, water and sewer hookups. Laundry room facilities are available for volunteers behind the Diamond Lake Visitor Center, 13 miles east on Highway 138. Cell service is limited to Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular. Emergency phones are available at nearby Lemolo Lake Resort. Poole Creek is centrally located to four full-service towns; Bend, Klamath Falls, Medford, and Roseburg, all approximately 2 hours away. Limited supplies can be purchased at Lemolo Lake Resort and at Diamond Lake Resort, including gasoline and propane.
Primary host duties include extending a warm welcome to visitors, answering questions about the local area, reminding visitors of campground rules such as keeping campsites clean and leashing pets, performing compliance checks, updating reservation sheets, and communicating visitor conflicts to Forest Service staff. Other host duties involve helping with occasional campground needs such as picking up litter, cleaning picnic tables, grills and firepits, restocking toilet paper and fee envelopes, and communicating maintenance problems with FS staff. Restrooms are cleaned by a contractor. Must be able to bend, lift and walk comfortably. Ability to use tools such as rakes, brooms, pruners, and shovels is preferred.
This host position offers additional opportunities to update reservation posts on nearby campgrounds.
