Work schedule will be pre-set, but flexible when establishing the dates. A typical schedule might be to help a week (three or four 10-hour days) at a time, then with scheduled week-long break(s) as is compatible for both you (the volunteer) and the District range personnel. "Minimum tour" is one month; a longer term is good.
Up to 4 positions are available; one each in Salmon, Challis, Leadore, or Mackay, Idaho (Leadore, Salmon-Cobalt, Challis-Yankee Fork, or Lost River Ranger Districts). Knock-out beautiful mountains!
Main duty includes accompanying District range personnel in the field to assist with vegetation monitoring. Interested individuals will assist with locating sites and layout of sampling, and recording data. Species identification may be provided depending on the individual's skill and/or interest.
Special requirements include ability to traverse varying terrain and work in sometimes inclement weather for up to 8-9 hours per day; attention to detail is highly desirable. A good attitude for working on a small team and being comfortable out in the woods is a plus. Bring your waders if you have them (or we can supply them)!
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Camp Sites Description: Availability may vary. Details would be developed based on the work location desired by volunteer, and by volunteer providing a minimum 32/hours week of assistance. If volunteer needs a spot for their camper, this would be the arrangement we can most easily support.
