Aransas NWR is operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is located in Austwell, Texas, 35 miles north of Rockport and along the beautiful Texas Gulf Coast. Volunteers play an important role in the maintenance and public use programs at the refuge. Volunteers directly affect the quality and success of refuge operations; visitor safety, comfort, and enjoyment; and the public’s understanding and image of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Come enjoy fishing, biking, and birding at this rural, beautiful refuge with its helpful and friendly staff!
We are seeking maintenance volunteers to assist with equipment operations, structural repairs, or general maintenance duties and trail maintenance. Ideal candidates should have experience operating power tools and maintenance equipment. Work may include: painting, mowing, carpentry, litter pickup, cleaning restrooms, fence work, installing signs, building or repairing public use structures and facilities, weeding, and other duties as needed.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: We provide an RV pad with 30 and 50 amp electricity, water, sewer, picnic table, and on-site washer, dryer, and refrigerator in exchange for 24 hours/week per person. We request a minimum 3 month commitment, but longer stays are preferred.
