The campground hosts maintain the 13-unit Bow River Campground, a 9-unit Deep Creek Campground and a ranch style rental cabin that is rented during the year. Duties include meeting and greeting campers and providing local information and light maintenance duties such as mowing, weed-whipping, cleaning latrines, removing garbage scraps from fire rings, litter pick-up, and repainting picnic tables and sign posts. Rental duties include coordinating with incoming guest and light cleaning and up keep between renters.
Both Bow River Campground and rental (8,600 feet) are located 50 miles northeast of Saratoga off Interstate 80. Access to both sites is along State Highway 230 north 20 miles and then east on Interstate 80 for 20 miles to the Elk Mountain exit. Take county road 101 south for 8 miles then 2 miles on National Forest Service Road 101 to the NFSR 100 road; take that road 1/8 mile to the campground.
A Host must generally be physically able to perform some raking, shoveling, and sweeping. A radio and necessary tools and supplies will be provided.
The work week will typically cover weekends and holidays with Thursday - Monday as a normal schedule for hosts to be available.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: Volunteer is expected to provide own travel trailer or RV. The designated host site is located at the Bow River work center and has water, sewer, propane and electric hookups. Water is potable but bottled water may be preferred.
