Hapgood Pond Recreation Area is located in beautiful and rural south-central Vermont approximately 12 miles east of Manchester. The historic area is one of the first parcels of land acquired in the formation of the Green Mountain National Forest.
The recreation area consists of a 28-site campground and a day-use area with reservable pavilions, a bath house with shower facilities, a one-mile nature trail, paved parking areas and beach. The central attraction is a 12-acre pond which is stocked annually with brook trout.
Host duties include greeting visitors, cleaning restroom and shower facilities, monitoring campsite occupancy, cleaning campsites, posting reservations in the campground and on the pavilions, monitoring the water system, and stocking fee envelopes in the self service fee stations located in the day use area and campground.
Volunteer will also clean sites and one restroom at Greendale Campground in Weston approximately 20 minutes away. A vehicle to perform volunteer duties will be provided or reimbursement for private vehicle use will be authorized for safe, licensed, and approved drivers.
Hosts work 5 days a week including holidays and weekends. Hours range from 2-6 hours a day depending on visitor use but ensure time for enjoying the area. In exchange for this work, a campsite with hookups including water, septic and electric will be provided.
