We are currently recruiting Resident Volunteers for July,August and September 2019, to assist in our beautiful Visitor Center / Gift Shop, assist with educational programs and with light refuge maintenance. A three month minimum commitment is prefered, but a shorter time is negotiable and we will accept longer if available. Two RV sites are located by beautiful Lake Phelps, in a wooded, farmland area; great for fishing and paddling. The refuge is the home of black bears, raptors, and in winter thousands of migrating birds. This RV site is about 20 miles from Columbia NC, where our Visitor Center and refuge headquarters are located. . We now have two additional RV sites located at our Red Wolf Health and Education Center, just a couple of miles from the refuge visitor center in Columbia, so we have another location to choose from. Visitor Center duties include: answering phones, greet and direct visitors, retail gift shop sales, selling hunt permits in winter, and answer questions about the refuge. Volunteers can also be trained to assist with educational programs. Light maintenance may consist of mowing, trash pick-up, trail trimming, etc;
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: There are 2 beautiful lake side locations with water, sewage and electric hook ups, 30 and 50 amps,located on the refuge, 20 miles from town and the visitor center.
