Join a creative group of environmental educators on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. The environmental education intern delivers curriculum-based education programs for school groups, which includes in-park field trip programs and distance learning programs via the Internet. The programs are primarily for 3rd through 6th grades, however programs from K – 12 may be conducted. The job includes extensive work outdoors in various weather conditions, and extended periods of walking and sitting. The position includes a $15/day stipend, a travel reimbursement for getting to the park, and free housing. We are currently recruiting for a position lasting from March 5, 2018 - May 25, 2018.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION (HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED): Academic studies in education or environmental education. Experience working in environmental education or with young people in educational settings; this includes youth clubs, conservation corps, after-school programs, environmental education camps, etc. Experience designing environmental education activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
COMPENSATION: The Associate Naturalist is required to wear a uniform. You will be supplied a hat, shirts and a jacket. You supply khaki slacks, a brown belt and appropriate footwear. Housing is available at Grand Canyon National Park. Shared housing consists of a private bedroom and shared communal areas. No spouse, relatives or pets are allowed in shared housing.
