Landscape and Grounds Maintenance
Job description: The volunteer work may include: weeding, pruning vegetation, planting, trash removal, weed removal, invasive plant species removal, removal of lawn waste, seeding and fertilizing, and assisting with visitor contacts in the field. Additional duties include; assisting with landscape improvements, maintenance, plant identification; photography. Grounds crew work can include various colleges, scout troops, church organizations, and Student Conservation Association (SCA) volunteers.
Qualifications: Ability to use or learn to use the following tools: rakes, shovels, hammer, handsaw, pruner, clippers. Basic gardening and landscaping skills are preferred. The ability to perform physical labor with some exertion is required. Applicant(s) must work well in a team environment and maintain safety procedures as instructed by park staff. A vehicle for transportation is strongly recommended.
Time commitment: Volunteer(s) would have the ability to perform this service several times throughout the year at seasonal intervals; Little Rock Central High School NHS performs several projects throughout the year requiring the service of the landscape and grounds maintenance team.
Selection criteria/age requirement: Applicant should specify interest on Volunteer Services Application; applicants must be a minimum of 14 years old. Applicant must be able to perform physical labor with some exertion. Background check may be required.
