The Pinnacles Service Youth Crew (PSYC) program involves local youth in meaningful service projects within Pinnacles National Park over a one-year commitment. Help make a difference in the National Park Service mission to preserve and protect our lands for future generations. Service projects focus on conservation, preservation, and protection of our public lands. A number of drop-in volunteer programs will be provided throughout the year for local youth and the general public.
Pinnacles National Park will provide a minimum of 6 service days for PSYC members to complete service commitments. Pinnacles will host projects on national service days in addition to PSYC projects. Dates of service projects listed below. The park will strive to host one service project a month. However, this is dependent on park needs and capacity. Projects will vary throughout the year and may include, but are not limited to, trail clean-up, habitat restoration, removal of non-native plants, seed collecting and trail maintenance. The park will supply water and all other necessary safety gear for each project.

Attend one event or all of them! PSYC members are encouraged to attend as many service projects as they can throughout the year. However, you will be considered a PSYC member after completion of your first day of service at Pinnacles National Park. PSYC members can take the PSYC pledge and service agreement which will state their interest in being a part of the Pinnacles National Park team. PSYC members can bring this signed agreement on the first event they volunteer at. Volunteers under 18 will be required to have a parental signature on the Volunteer Agreement. Participants should be enthusiastic about service and willing to assist with a variety of projects.
As a PSYC member you will have unique opportunities to attend special enrichment and recognition events that will be planned throughout the year in addition to service projects. These activities will allow youth from different school, troops and organization to gather and be recognized for their service. Enrichment activities will include special presentations about natural and cultural resources of Pinnacles. PSYC members will also have the opportunity to earn rewards and be recognized for achieving different levels of service and recruitment. See below for more detailed outline of rewards. Other benefits include free access to the park on the day you volunteer. Group campsites may also be available free of charge to volunteers (subject to campsite availability). Boy and Girl Scouts also have the opportunity to become a National Park Scout patch through participation in the PSYC program after 10 hours of service.
Additional volunteer opportunities:
Pinnacles National Park hosts a number of Ameri-corps interns as volunteers. As an Ameri-corps member they are required to host a service project during their term of service. These projects often take place beyond Pinnacles National Park in the surrounding communities. Please let the volunteer coordinator know if you are interested in learning about these opportunities.
