Grout Pond Recreation Area is located in beautiful, rural south-central Vermont in the town of Stratton.
The recreation area consists of a 17-site campground with both walk-in and drive-in sites, a day-use area with a non-motorized boat launch, picnic tables, 2 vault toilets and around 8 miles of trail managed for non-motorized uses. The central attraction is an 80-acre pond which is home to pike, bluegill, bullhead, and brook trout.
Campground host duties include greeting visitors, cleaning restroom facilities, monitoring campsite occupancy, cleaning campsites, and other maintenance duties such as painting, picnic table and fire ring repair and other projects as able.
Hosts volunteer 5 days a week including holidays and weekends. Hours range from 2-6 hours a day depending on visitor use but ensure time for enjoying the area. A campsite that will accommodate a small RV (20' or less) or a tent is available for the host - note there are no hook-ups at this primitive site. There is a hand pump within the recreation area that provides potable water.
Reimbursement for expenses will be provided up to $10 per day/5 days a week.
A minimum commitment of three months is requested.
Season dates are from May 20 - October 15.
