Visitor Services Volunteer: Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center
Hot Springs National Park is a unique mix of nature and culture located in a semi-urban environment. This setting offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities for the public.
The local community also boasts an avid artistic community, which makes this volunteer position so appealing. The visitor services volunteer will work inside the Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center, which hosts the collection of artwork from the park's Artist-in-Residence program.
Visitor services volunteers are front-line ambassadors who are responsible for providing a welcoming environment for the park's visitors. Hot Springs National Park is seeking a friendly, energetic person to assist with visitor services at the Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center. This volunteer will work with a team of park staff and volunteers and interact with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Location: Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center, 425 Central Avenue
Time Commitment: Volunteers are scheduled for an afternoon (12:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday each week (the goal would be to open daily); the Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
Visitor Services Volunteer provides the public with up-to-date, accurate park information in a calm, patient, and polite manner;
Orients visitors to the Cultural Center, the Artist-in-Residence program, and the artwork in the Center;
Distributes information about facilities, programs, and regulations of Hot Springs National Park. As time allows, provides information about other national park sites and the city and state;
Goal: To assist in operations of the Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center in Hot Springs National Park contributing to the enjoyment of park visitors.
Qualifications: Desire to work in a public setting, interacting with a large number of people.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently (after training is provided).
Ability to stand or walk for up to three hours at a time.
Special Requirements: Prior knowledge of the area is helpful, but not required.
Training: Trainees are provided customer service training and an orientation to Hot Springs National Park and Bathhouse Row. They should also make use of the other training resources available at the visitor center.
Uniform: Volunteer will be in uniform. (Shirt, hat and nametag provided by the park.)
