Live in the beautiful Ozark mountains!
An exciting volunteer opportunity! The Norfork National Fish Hatchery in the heart of beautiful northern Arkansas is looking for some volunteers to assist with our visitor services and outreach during the summer season. Come join our team to learn, assist, and share with others how we raise and release almost 2 million trout every year for recreational fishermen across northern Arkansas and Oklahoma. The main duties of this position include: meeting/greeting the public; answering questions; assisting with cleaning and litter pick-up (does include restrooms); leading tours and helping with outreach events; day-to-day operation of the visitor center; stocking/tracking/ordering brochures and animal caretaking. Additional opportunities are available for interested individuals to assist our hatchery staff with facility maintenance or fish production including feeding, raceway cleaning, and sampling. This volunteer position would be ideal for couples looking to try something new and challenging while living in and exploring the Arkansas' Ozarks.
Norfork NFH is located below the Norfork Lake Dam only steps away from world-class fishing on both the North Fork River and Norfork Lake. All amenities of town including grocery and medical facilities are located in nearby Mountain Home, AR, approximately a 15-minute drive. Volunteers are expected to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, per person. In exchange, a campsite with full water, sewer, and electric hook-ups will be provided. Laundry facilities are available on-site as well. Uniforms and training will be provided and starting and ending season dates are flexible. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
