Great Basin National Park is looking for hosts in 3 campgrounds for the summer of 2018.
Host duties will include:
Providing information and assistance to campers within the assigned campground.
Updating park dispatcher with daily counts of available campsites.
Checking restrooms, campsites, bulletin boards and overall campground conditions and notify appropriate Park Service personnel of problems or changes.
Immediately notify Protection Rangers about search and rescue, medical, or fire incidents. Notify Law Enforcement Rangers of potential or actual violations.
Report significant wildlife observations, environmental concerns, and other natural events to Resource Management staff.
Check on fee compliance.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Great Basin National Park is located in eastern Nevada, near the Utah border. Elevation ranges from 5,000 Ft to over 13,000 Ft at the summit of Wheeler Peak, the highest peak located entirely within Nevada. Temperatures in the summer reach a high in the mid 90s, with heavy snowfall in the winter months. Recreational activities include hiking, camping, fishing, and stargazing as the park features some of the darkest night skies in the nation. The park also features groves of Bristlecone Pine Trees (among the oldest living things on Earth) and Nevada's only glacier. Daily guided tours of Lehman Cave showcase spectacular geological formations.
Note: hosts must begin in August or earlier.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: Park will provide an RV pad with water and sewer usage. One host site has a hookup.
