Hagerman Fossil Beds is looking to gather a group of park volunteers who want to talk about the park. You would come to the park and meet with others on your team. The team would load up a park vehicle with a preassembled Fiesta kit containing table cloth, park brochures, maps, and (as appropriate) a simple small hand craft. Finally, the team would go to a fair, festival, fiesta or other special event to represent Hagerman Fossil Beds and let the public know where the park is located and what is happening there. Because you are part of a team everyone would take turns enjoying the event as well as staffing the park tables. Training, a uniform shirt, and maps provided as well as the materials to set up a station at special events and transporation there. A pop-up shelter and light tables can be deployed for outdoor events to keep you safe, out of the sun, and off of the ground if the event planners hadn't considered those logistics.
Past events we have attended include: Filer Rock and Gem Show, Buhl Sagebrush Days, Shoshone Arts in the Park, Jerome County Fair, Jerome Life History Days, Thousand Springs Art Festival, and the Hagerman Fall Car Show. With YOUR help we can attend more events, let people know about their National Parks, and help them find their park.
Park volunteer coordinator is also busy with school groups and visitors at the park, she appreciates EMAIL over attempts at telephone calls about this opportunity. Thank you. Once you apply you will be added to a monthly email newsletter that lists events at festivals as well as events at the park. You will be able to pick and choose which things interest you and fit into your schedule. Hagerman Fossil Beds is located in Gooding County with the park visitor center across from the Hagerman High School. Event opportunities will range various distances but you will meet at the park for transportation (unless you choose otherwise and meet up at the event).
