Location: Steel Creek,Kyles Landing, Ozark, Tyler Bend, or Buffalo Point Campground
Time Frame: Any 90 day period from March 15 to Nov 15
Time Commitment: 40 hours per week
Assist visitors in locating campsite, answer questions about the campground, regulations governing the area, the park itself, and the VIP program.
Ensure compliance with park regulations concerning visitor use fees, applicable documentation and site occupation.
Report activities or items requiring immediate attention, from a hazardous tree to an out-of-bounds camper to park staff.
Hosts shall not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators.
Assist the park staff by cleaning fire rings after visitors vacate a site, restock restroom facilities as needed and pick up litter.
Secure and deliver all found items and report lost items to uniformed staff.
Encourage visitors to practice Leave No Trace principles and to maintain a safe distance from all wildlife.
Performing work in a beautiful national park essential to maintaining the long term health of the park's resources.
Positive interactions with visitors and fellow staff.
Opportunities to expand personal knowledge of the Buffalo River.

Work involves the possibility of experiencing exposure to poisonous plants, bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes, sunburn, and insect bites.
Self-sustained housing for extended periods such as a camper trailer or motor home.
Knowledge of Policies, procedures and regulations for campground operations.
Knowledge of local points of interest and the location of services such as towing, groceries, churches tourist attractions and local events.
Depending upon location, operation of two-wheel or four-wheel drive government vehicle(s).
Required to follow policies detailed in the Buffalo NR Volunteer Handbook.
Present a professional appearance, complete with nametag, VIP hat and VIP shirt.
Kyles Landing has a steep, rough gravel entry road. Small RV or trailer with good clearance recommended.
Steel Creek host site has water and electric hook ups. There is no sewage hookup but black tanks can be dumped into an available portable black water tank and transported a short distance with a UTV to be dumped. Host assistance with park owned horses would be appreciated.

Steel Creek includes horse camp as well as tent campground.
