The National Park Service (NPS) at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DEWA) in cooperation with Lehman Township, PA are sponsoring the Wheatplains Volunteer Community Garden located on the PA side of the park at approximately mile 7 1/2 on US Rt 209.
The garden plots are assigned after the registration process is completed. Most plots are 10' X 30' and gardens are cultivated organically to preserve soil fertility and avoid damaging the park ecosystem. Organic gardening produces healthier soils and safer water systems.
Each person who gardens will contribute eight (8) hours* of seasonal community service anywhere in the park by September 30, 2018 (*4 hours for those volunteers age 12 and under). Specified educational programs and classes also qualify as community service hours.
Any questions about the garden, please contact Janine Venezia at firstname.lastname@example.org . Please fill out the volunteer application if you are interested in gardening for 2018.
