Volunteer Campground Host at Woodward Campground Walla Walla Ranger District
Umatilla National Forest
Campground hosts serve as the primary point of contact for the campers. Hosts visit with campers and day-use visitors, provide information about local attractions, and rules and regulations, clean and maintain restrooms, restock supplies, clean up after a messy camper and carry out light maintenance tasks. Individuals or couples can apply to be hosts. (See more details below.) Hosts need to be friendly, flexible, and responsible. Campground hosts do not take money campground fees or make change for campers. Host applicants may be subject to a criminal background check.
Those who apply will need to provide their own trailer, camper, or motor home. Camp hosts will be provided a campsite near the main entryway to the campground. The host site has water and sewer hookups. There is no electrical service at the campground. Though the Host program is a volunteer program, a food reimbursement is offered, and hosts will be given a mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use within the campground. Hosts are expected to be on site 5 days a week including weekends, with 2 days off. Days off are typically mid-week.
