The Delta National Forest is looking for an individual or group to assist in gathering GPS data for our District off-highway vehicle trails. Accurate trail information is critical to providing map products to the public, managing, and coordinating activities on the National Forest. This volunteer would travel the District multi-use and hiking trails to gather accurate GPS data, utilizing hand-held Garmin GPS equipment. The volunteer would also be asked to GPS unauthorized trails and/or encroachments that may be found during the course of their duties.
It is expected that the volunteer would work independently, at their leisure, to collect data and communicate via e-mail and in-person with USFS contacts to provide data and feedback regarding the project. Individual will receive appropriate safety equipment (as needed), as well as training on the tasks required and equipment.
Volunteer may be reimbursed for mileage in conducting responsibilities.
