Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is looking for an outgoing individual to assist in administrative duties at our headquarters building front desk. The selected individual will greet the public, so being friendly and kind is a must. This is a great opportunity to work with a a great team focused on natural and cultural resource preservation!
Overview of Position: Staffs the headquarters’ reception area, greeting visitors, collect federal entrance fees and interagency passes. Answers visitors questions, provide visitors information and orientation to the park and its resources, as well as the surrounding area. Answers phone inquiries and transfer calls as necessary. Works on projects such as copying, folding site bulletins, and preparing mailings as time permits.
Primary Specific Tasks: 1. Sell park passes and federal entrance fees using register 2. Orient park visitors 3. Accurately answer visitor questions regarding park and regional history and local area information 4. Answer telephone inquiries and transfer calls 5. Make copies, fold and distribute brochures as needed
Requirements: Positions requires standing and/or sitting for long periods. Receptionist staff must be able to see and hear sufficiently to communicate comfortably with visitors. One also must be able to pass background check for fee collection. The candidate must be friendly, enjoy talking with visitors, able to work well with people. Knowledge of or interest in learning about local culture and history is essential. The ability to accurately work with cash register and telephone system is also required.
