Salmon La Sac Campground is bordered between the Cle Elum and Cooper Rivers in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This campground is a poplar gathering place for individuals and families wanting to enjoy the mountains and a multitude of recreational activities at an elevation of 2,300 feet. Towering peaks, high-country lakes and old-growth forests provide visitors with a variety of landscapes. Lake Cle Elum, is a short drive south of the campground, is actually a reservoir popular with boaters and kayakers.
The campground is surrounded by undeveloped wilderness, clean streams and diverse forests support an abundance of wildlife, including deer, porcupine, native fish and migratory birds. In addition the area is a prime location for hiking, fishing, swimming, motor boating, kayaking, horseback riding and mountain biking in summer and early fall.
Hikers will enjoy traversing rugged terrain from the Waptus River Trail, located within driving distance of the campground. Forested and lined with an underbrush of blueberries, the trail also rolls through meadows and on top of ridges, showcasing varied perspectives of the area.
Two campground hosts or couples are needed to provide maintenance and host duties at this very popular 60-site campground. Duties would include posting campsite reservations, cleaning fire pits, picking up trash, checking for fee compliance, cleaning and stocking vault toilet facilities, and providing visitor information. Hosts volunteer at least 5 hours a day and are expected to be on site (camped) 5 days/nights per week. Duration of the season is from around May 17th through mid-September. Minimum commitment of two months.
A uniform and all tools and supplies needed to perform maintenance duties will be provided.
Host must provide their own RV, trailer, or camper. Sites require self-containment. Host may be provided with solar panels. Host will be reimbursed for propane and receive $28/day.
