The Taneum Cabin is located in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, approximately 20 miles from Ellensburg, Washington. The cabin is available for reservation from Memorial Day through Labor Day, offering guests a wonderful setting for recreation and relaxation. The cabin is accessible by car and provides many of the same comforts of home. Guests only need to bring a few of their own amenities for an enjoyable stay.
Taneum Campground is located less than a quarter mile down the road from the cabin. The campground is located along Tanuem Creek near the site of a former CCC camp. The remaining picnic shelter was built by the CCC's. Old growth Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir shade the area. The 11 campsites are equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, drinking water and 2 vault toilets.
Icewater Campground is located on Taneum Creek, this campground offers 15 campsites. The campground accesses North Fork Taneum Trail # 1377 and has a beginners motorcycle loop trail that originates in the campground. The campground is popular with RV campers. Campsites are equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and 2 vault toilets.
Guests to the Taneum Area will find that it is in a prime location for hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and mountain biking in the summer. Off-road vehicles, particularly motorbikes, share nearby trails with hikers and mountain bikers.
A campground host(s) is needed to provide maintenance and host duties at Taneum Cabin, Taneum Campground and Icewater Campground. Duties would include checking in groups and campers, cleaning fire pits, picking up trash, checking for fee compliance, cleaning and stocking vault toilet facilities, and providing visitor information. Hosts volunteer at least 5 hours a day and are expected to be on site (camped) 5 days/nights per week. Duration of the season is from around May 17th through mid-September. Minimum commitment of two months.
A uniform and all tools and supplies needed to perform maintenance duties will be provided.
Host must provide their own RV, trailer, or camper. Sites require self-containment. Host will be provided with solar panels, water barrels with onsite filling, propane, and macerator. Host will be reimbursed for propane and receive $28/day. Host will be reimbursed for mileage to travel from campgrounds.
