The Yampa Ranger District is looking for a campground host at Chapman Reservoir Campground. The volunteer will be provided propane, gas for their generator, and mileage reimbursement on their vehicle throughout the summer. They will also be reimbursed $20 for each day volunteering. Sheriff Reservoir is a second campground 8 miles away and the volunteer will also help manage that area. The volunteer will greet campers and answer questions and explain rules and regulations. There is a fee at both of the campgrounds and the volunteer will help ensure campers pay their fees. There are 3 bathrooms in the two campgrounds that the volunteer will help clean once a week or more during busy times.
The campgrounds both have reservoirs that allow boats without internal combustion engines only. They are both busy in the summer, but small campgrounds. Chapman has 12 sites and Sheriff has 6 sites and they are all first come, first served. There is no potable water at either of the campgrounds and no hookups for rvs. The area is on the edge of the Flat Tops Wilderness and is very beautiful, in an aspen and spruce/fir forest.
