This position is located at the Turner Flat Campground on the St. Joe National Forest, right alongside the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River, on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The Campground has 10 campsites sites with one group site, potobale water, and vault toilets. The main duty is to monitor visitor use ensure day use and site rules are being followed, as well as maintaing the site. Volunteer will provide visitors with maps/brochures as available. They will perform facility maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning/stocking toilets, emptying trash, staining, weed-eating and lawn mowing. They will keep records of recreation use and may assist in recreation maintenance work at other recreation sites at Forest Service (FS) request performing similar duties.
It is expected that the site is maintained to the following standards:
Established lawns are kept mowed and neat
Toilets cleaned and stocked with toilet paper
Fire rings and campground are clean of trash
Conduct themselves is a respectful, courteous, and inclusive way with all visitors/FS employees
Host is present Friday-Monday during high use times to answer questions
Guests are informed of Campground rules and fees
Provide information upon request regarding the surrounding area and recreation/natural resources
Notify FS employee of unusual circumstances in a timely manner (see Recreation Communication Plan)
Do not engage in services (medical/enforcement) for which you are not certified/trained
All safety procedures are followed, including Job Hazard Analysis, Personal Protective Equipment, Communications, etc.
