Opportunity Description: This is an early announcement for the 2018 campground hosts for the Desert View Campground on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Assistance is needed from April 14th, 2018 through October 15, 2018. This position requires a minimum 32 hours a week and 3 month commitment. A 45 feet trailer / RV site with water, sewer, Propane, and electricity is provided for the hosts. Days off may vary and you will be required to work on major holiday weekends.
DUTIES: Volunteer must be able to work independently, with other volunteers, and park staff within the park.
Assist campers with registration and regulation compliance.
Assist with collecting litter in the campground and along roads.
Assist with removing ash from campfire pits.
Assist with general restroom maintenance.
In addition, work in both areas may require:
Driving government passenger or 4x4 vehicles.
Driving personal vehicles to work site if necessary.
Volunteers must be able to perform manual labor for up to 8 hours per day in an outdoor environment where inclement weather is possible. Work requires lifting and carrying moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds), bending, hiking, shoveling, and stooping for long periods. Work will be performed in either a natural or in the developed areas of the park. Work in the developed areas can vary from rocky, uneven terrain, to active construction areas. The volunteer may be exposed to irritants such as vehicle fumes, ash, dust, plants, dead brush, and insect bites.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: Trailer pad at Desert View Campground. Utilities will be paid by the park.
