On June 24, 2016 President Obama designated the site of the Stonewall uprising and birthplace of the modern LGBT civil rights movement the “Stonewall National Monument.” This new monument is a testament to the diversity, inclusiveness, and individual freedom that make America great.
"I’m designating the Stonewall National Monument as the newest addition to America’s national parks system. Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story of the struggle for LGBT rights. I believe our national parks should reflect the full story of our country – the richness and diversity and uniquely American spirit that has always defined us. That we are stronger together. That out of many, we are one." - President Barack Obama
In the summer of 2017 Stonewall National Monument engaged with the New York City Department of Education through the national Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program, to create a series of curriculum materials for educators to use and bring the important civil rights history of the 1969 Stonewall Riots to their students. Curriculum materials were created for elementery, middle, and high school.
We need a volunteer to take the content in these curriculum materials and format them into Adobe InDesign templates used by the National Park Service for official public materials. No content or design is being requested, only a thorough knowledge of InDesign to quickly and efficiently format these three documents to the templates specifications.
