The Hidden Valley Recreation Area contains a bed and breakfast, campground, day use area, and trails. Our volunteer campground host would serve the visitors by answering questions, providing directions, offering help in time of emergency by calling our Law Enforcement Officer, and performing light maintenance (example: litter pick-up, cleaning 5 vault toilets, camp-pads, fire-rings, and mowing). The Warm Springs Ranger District has a full-time Recreation Technician who will train and check on the volunteer campground host. All tools, personal protective gear, and supplies are provided by the Forest Service.
The campground has 28 non-electric sites; 1 host site with water and sewer, water hydrants located throughout the campground, and 5 Vault toilet buildings.
The day-use area has several hiking trails and hay fields, and is located on Jackson River.
There is limited cell service in the area. The campground is not remote, but is about 10 miles from the closest town of Hot Spring, VA. Hidden Valley is a popular fishing and recreation area on the Warm Springs Ranger District. Since the campground is within the forest, wildlife such as deer, raccoons, bears and songbirds may also visit.
The volunteer host would be available to the public from August 1 through September 30, with time allowed each week for personal business such as grocery shopping or laundry. The busiest times are the weekends, particularly holiday weekends.
Applicants will be subject to a background check.
