Pecos National Historical Park is seeking an intern or dedicated volunteer who is enthusiastic about working with the public, giving interpretive programs, developing website content and/or exhibit content. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to take advantage of the off-season to broaden/diversify his/her interpretive skills. The intern may assist in presenting curriculum-based education programs,staffing the visitor center, conducting roves, working in the cooperating association bookstore, and with interpretive writing, graphic design, and social media. A modest stipend may be available.
This opportunity is ideal for those who enjoy working with the public and for those who have a strong interest in visual arts, graphic design, interpretive writing and/or research. Interested candidates should exhibit a passion for history or nature and a desire to provide excellent customer service. Volunteer will be expected to work 32 hours/week.
Pecos National Historical Park is located 2 miles south of the village of Pecos, New Mexico on State Highway 63, four miles north of interstate 25. Pecos NHP is 25 miles east of Santa Fe and 44 miles to the west of Las Vegas, New Mexico. The multi-cultural resource of the park are enclosed in a predominately piñon/juniper woodland plant community with elevation from 6900 to 7400 feet. Precipitation averages 17 inches per year. Snowfall averages 23 inches in the winter. Average maximum winter temperature is 40 degrees. Average maximum summer temperature is 80 degrees. HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Cabins Description: In exchange for four days per week of volunteer service, Pecos NHP offers a fully-furnished casita. Please note that there is decent cell service, but no internet or television available in housing.
