Volunteers are asked to work (3) 8 hour consecutive days. Couples will work same schedule, but not the same job. Minimum of 3 months, maximum 6 month stay. Arrival and departure days are flexible.
Visitor Center: Assist with environmental education activities (Volunteer may be asked to lead hikes, animal fur presentations, snake presentation, assist with Jr. Ranger Camp, Annual Fishing Rodeo, Workshops, canoe trips, etc. Volunteers will be trained for upcoming programs.) Volunteers are also asked to greet visitors, answer phones, maintain flower beds, and keep the Visitor Center clean and presentable for our visitors.
Maintenance: Mowing multiple areas of Refuge with zero-turn mower, hiking trial maintenance, limb removal, blow off trails and parking areas, light painting, various projects as needed based on skill level. Defensive Driving Training Course is needed to operate FWS vehicles (training can be done upon arrival).
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: We offer four paved RV pads (two 16X32, and two 14X32) with an extended gravel area for larger RV's, full hookup (30/50 amp), free wifi, propane provided. RV pads are within walking distance to laundry facility and Visitor Center, and are adjacent to maintenance shop. Site is 15-20 minutes to nearest shopping area and medical services.
