Great Basin National Park is seeking a motivated individual with strong organizational skills to assist with the operation of the park library. The Volunteer's main responsibility will be to keep the library neat, orderly and up-to-date. This includes: checking in and shelving books, performing minor repair to books, locating library books stoed in offices, and catologing items. Other responsibilities include preparing new books for circulation, and informing the library manager of any issues needing attention. Volunteers must have knowledge of or interest in library cataloging and Library of Congress classification. Previous library experience or training is desired, but not required. Volunteers must be willing to commit to a consistent schedule (32 hours a week). Volunteer should be able to work independently and adhere to established protocols and policies. Volunteer will have to pass a federal background check. Volunteer will not be required to wear a volunteer uniform. Housing will be available. This work is indoors in the park's library. The work involves periods of time filing, standing, walking, bending and lifting.
