A campground host for Bear Lake Campground is needed for the summer of 2019. The host will be reimbursed $20 for each day served, and typically serves a few hours a day 4-5 days per week.
Bear Lake Campground is located in the Bear River Corridor and is a busy campground with 43 sites. The campground is full most weekends from the 4th of July until Labor Day. This position needs an energetic, enthusiastic person to help the Ranger District keep our campgrounds running smoothly. The Bear River corridor has 30 designated dispersed sites and three campgrounds: Bear Lake, Horseshoe, and Cold Springs. There are 11 bathrooms in the corridor that the campground host would be expected to help clean. There are typically 5-6 Forest Service employees in the summer who will help support the campground host and work with them.
The area is the gateway to the Flat Tops Wilderness and offers many recreational opportunities including, hiking, camping, backpacking, horseback riding, atv trails, fishing, and boating. There are three reservoirs in the area that offer boating and fishing opportunities as well as Bear River that runs through the corridor. The campground host will be available to help campers in Bear Lake Campground as well as the whole corridor if needed. The host will be provided with all the cleaning supplies necessary for the job, a hand-held radio, and a booster for communication from the campground.
The position will be very competitive. We are looking for an upbeat, personable volunteer excited for the opportunity.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Type: Trailer/RV Pads Description: There is a designated site for the camp host with water hookups and a vault. A generator and gas will be provided.
