Being a camphost is fun, but there is some work involved. Among the duties are: Meeting and greeting campers, helping them find things they need: "where's the bathroom?" "Where do I get firewood?" etc.
Hosts also help with the reservation system, checking people in and out, making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be and that everyone who is supposed to pay, has paid. (You don't have to handle money though)
Once in awhile you may have to politely remind someone to put their dog on a leash or not park on the grass. We don't expect you to take any risks, for real troublemakers you call the rangers.
In return you get a free campsite with hook-ups, a look at the behind the scenes daily operations of the park, and of course, our gratitude. There's no pay involved however, it's a volunteer job!
To apply send a letter or resume with references (better) to:
Ozark National Scenic Riverways
P.O., Box 490
Van Buren, MO 63965
If you have a preference for one of our sites over another, please make that known. We get more applications than we can possibly use, so there are no guarantees. Dates are flexible, let us know your availability.
Good luck, and thank you.
