This opportunity is ONLY for July 2019 through August 2019.
Length of Commitment: 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on applicant's preferred length of stay.
Campground Hosts are needed for the Malaquite Campground. The Malaquite Campground sits directly on the Gulf Coast Just 100 feet or so from the water.
Campground Hosts assist Park Rangers and staff in the Division of Resource Protection in the daily operation of the Bird Island Basin Campground. Be aware that our humid, salty climate may take its toll on equipment.
Selected host(s) for Malaquite Campground will be provided with an RV site with full hookups at the Malaquite Campground. Laundry facilities, ice, and a dump station are available for free in the park. The park reimburses for limited amounts of propane and provides limited amounts of fuel for generators.
Assist with campground and kiosk operations.
Check supplies of camping permits so all campers pay camping fees.
Keeps daily/weekly logs of campground use.
Rove campground and educate campers on park and campground regulations and wildlife in the area.
Provide information to visitors on recreational opportunities in the park and surrounding areas.
Hosts must work well with visitors, be courteous, friendly and willing to answer repetitive questions. Be able to remain calm and courteous during occasional hectic or emergency situations.
