Assists Park Rangers and staff in the Division of Interpretation in the daily operation of the Visitor Center.
Provides information in an appropriate manner to the visiting public about park programs and policies.
Completes park forms accurately.
Operates cash register in accordance with established procedures for Western National Parks Association.
Assists in organizing files and the daily maintenance of museum exhibits and library.
May provide interpretative programs to visitors.
Assists in opening and closing procedures of visitor center.
Develops knowledge of park resources.
Provides information regarding park regulations and NPS policies to visitors.
Communicates effectively by park radio.
Wears a uniform.
Possesses a valid state driver’s license.
Must be 18 years or older. Volunteers must work well with visitors, be courteous, friendly, and willing to answer many repetitive questions. Be able to remain calm and courteous during hectic and occasional emergency situations. Communicate effectively with the public and with park personnel. Become knowledgeable of the cultural and natural history of the park and surrounding area. Become familiar with park regulations and safety procedures.
Volunteers who commit to working 24 hours per week (couples) or 32 hours per week (single persons) will be provided with an RV site with full hookups in our VIP Campground. Laundry facilities, showers, and dump station and water fill stations are located within the park.
