One position for a volunteer campground host at Delintment Lake to start approximately May 13, 2019 and end October 14, 2019 is available. This specific start date is preferred, but both dates can be negotiable.
Delintment Lake is a small, peaceful lake located approximately 44 miles northwest of Hines in southeastern Oregon. During the summer weekends, the lake sees regular use by campers, fishermen, and picnickers. During the fall, big-game hunting season, the campground sees an influx of use during the week and weekends. There is a pier for trout fishing, and a natural non-motorized boat launch, beach area. The lake is enjoyable also for bird watching; usually a pair of bald eagles nest along the lake.
The campground host will provide information; answer questions; monitor public use; stock bathrooms with toilet paper, sweep, and maintain cleanliness of the bathrooms; ensure campsites and beaches are free of garbage for next visitors; and follow check in/out and safety policies of the Forest Service.
Campground hosts will be asked to perform these services Thursday-Monday for 8 hours, including holidays. A reimbursement of $19/day plus propane will be provided. Host will be given a cell phone booster and a Forest Service radio for emergencies and to check in/out with dispatch daily while serving.
