One campground host opportunity for the Idlewild Campground located along Highway 395, approximately 20 miles north of Hines in southeastern Oregon is available. Start and end dates may be flexible, but the specific start date would be preferred.
The campground is located in a dry, open understory ponderosa pine forest. This campground sees use from people traveling through the area who are in need of a convenient place to stay overnight, weekend recreationists, organized party groups, picnickers, and trail users. There is a circuit of hiking trails, including an interpretive trail, that begin and end at the campground, providing short and longer loops fun for everyone. The campground is a popular location for big-game hunting in the fall.
The campground host will answer questions and provide information to the public, monitor public use, manage campsite and pavillion reservations, stock bathrooms with toilet paper, ensure bathrooms and campsites are clean and free of garbage, and follow Forest Service check in/out and safety policies.
Campground hosts will be asked to perform these services Thursday-Monday for 8 hours, including holidays. A reimbursement of $19/day plus propane will be provided. Host will be given a cell phone booster if cell phone carrier does not provide cell service, and a Forest Service radio for emergencies and to check in/out with dispatch daily while serving.
